Fighting for a fair deal for you, my friends and neighbors in the heart of our county, is why I am working hard to be your next Lancaster County Commissioner. I came up in central Lincoln and attended Lincoln Public Schools (Hartley, Everett, Lefler, Lincoln High, and Southeast High School.) I graduated from Southeast Community College with a degree in Fire Protection Technology and as a certified Emergency Medical Technician.
I served as an aide in the Nebraska State Legislature and worked as the Field Director for the Nebraska Democratic Party where I fought for affordable healthcare for every Nebraskan. I went on be the Executive Director of the Nebraska League of Conservation Voters, an organization committed to protecting our clean air and water.
Not long after, my mother, Sally Herrin, took ill. This change for my family led me to the decision to take a job as an officer with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. I promoted quickly, first to Corporal and then to Caseworker where I spent two years working on the maximum security mental health unit. I volunteered and was selected for service on the Correctional Emergency Response Team, a riot control team that handles emergency situations in a correctional environment. During my time as a state employee I was a proud Union Member of the Nebraska Association of Public Employees.
Today, I am the Lincoln Area Manager for Pathfinder Support Services, a child welfare agency working in our community with at-risk kids and families.
Now, I want to use my public safety background, practical business experience and my love of public service to make our county work for you.
In my free time, I like to travel and I am a die-hard alternative country music fan and history buff.
